California's "Top Two" primary system—often known as the Jungle Primary—was sold to voters as a way to moderate political discourse, but it has resulted in widespread disenfranchisement.
This failed experiment is an undemocratic system that produces no benefits and corrupts the electoral process. Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians, the Green Party, and the Peace & Freedom Party all agree: undo the "top two" and restore a system that allows you to vote for the candidate of your party, no matter what it is, and restores the ability to write-in candidates.

“The top-two primary system is a failed experiment. It achieved none of its intended goals of moderating California politics, while it has denied millions of Californians meaningful choices in the general elections where most people vote. It’s time for it to go.”
